Lovely Antique Georgian 10k Rose Gold Amethyst Memorial Hair Cigar Band Ring
Presented is a beautiful antique 10 karat gold amethyst and woven hair memorial
ring. This piece is likely of American make and dates to circa 1800-1840. The
ring is made in a simple almost cigar band style, with an oval halo of round cut
purple amethysts surrounding a glass bezel with woven brown hair beneath.
The ring is in great overall condition. The amethysts are all intact and well
set. The glass and the hair plait beneath are in good shape. The band has had a
resize or reinforcement, visible as an applied rectangle of gold to the interior
of the base of the ring's band.
The ring is not stamped or hallmarked but we have tested it with nitric acid
and guarantee it to be 10 karat gold.
The ring is about a size 6.5. The head of the ring measures about 10.73
millimeters wide while the narrowest point of the band is about 3.5 millimeters.
The ring weighs 2.9 grams.
