Antique Late 1800s French Artillery Officer's Hat Badge

Description

An excellent and unusual hat badge originally meant to be placed on a French artillery officer's shako. The badge features crossed cannons flanking a flaming hand grenade. This piece is very detailed, finely embossed and finely wrought. The back showcases a beautiful oxidized patina, a sign of its age and quality.
In regards to the condition, there is slight warping to the top right cannon, as well as a small dent in the grenade, though this is evidence to the age of the piece and its quality rather than a detractor considering the estimated time of creation. Additionally, one of the clips on the rear side of the badge is missing, otherwise this authentic Victorian-era French officer's badge is a beautiful and well preserved collectible for any period military enthusiast.
