    Description

If you're looking at this auction you may already know about the Triumph T-160 but for those who don't know here is a little history. This was a completely new bike for 1975. Triumph made the T-150 from 1968 - 1974. Although they were both 750cc bikes the T-160 was a much sportier more modern looking bike than the T-150 it replaced. The T-160 engine cylinders were tilted slightly forward forward much like the BSA Rocket three engine but this was Triumph's own engine. Sadly it was too late for Triumph and production of the T-160 only lasted for one year. I've had the privilege of owning many Triumphs over the years and to my eye this is one of the best looking bikes they ever produced. The Triumph triple of this era makes a very unique and wonderful sound especially in the upper RPM range. It's quite different from the twins. This one runs great and performs as it should. I bought it 7 years ago from a Triumph collector in Rhode Island who was reported to have had the largest collection of Triumph Triples known to exist at the time. He had a full time mechanic who was in charge of taking care of all of his bikes. Since being in my collection I've ridden it less than 200 miles. The only changes I've made are new header pipes strictly for cosmetic reasons and a set of new updated Amal Premier carbs to improve performance. These bikes are very cold natured. I've owned 2 of them and they both required a long warm-up time for the engine reach proper operating temperature. Even the owner's manual (included) says to leave the choke on and gradually turn it off as the engine warms up. When fully warm it idles as it should and pulls strong through the gears. Everything works as it should except the neutral light. It hasn't worked since I've owned it and I've never gotten around to checking it out. The tank is clean inside and the bike is in excellent condition. It has been restored, probably at least 10 years ago but it was a very good job. Engine and frame numbers match. I have a clean title in my name. Shipping is the buyers responsibility but I can make some suggestions. Shipping bikes has become very easy and no crating is required. Payment is due within 3 business days after the auction ends. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at (228) 860-8222
